Charter Testimony 101 workshop open!

The Portland Charter Commission needs you to add your voice about the future of Portland before the November 2022 election. Join us for an exciting workshop to prepare for the Commission’s public hearings this May! If you haven’t heard the latest news about the Portland Charter Commission’s progress, now is your time to get involved.

On Thursday, March 31, the Charter Commission reached a milestone by unanimously advancing a proposal to reform Portland’s elections and government structure. Read more about the proposals here.

In May, the Charter Commission is hosting a series of public hearings to hear from Portlanders and help refine their proposals. To help community members prepare for the public hearings, learn more about how to testify, and dive into the Charter Commission’s proposals, IRCO is hosting a Charter Review Testimony Workshop on Thursday, May 5th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Attendees will receive a $35 Visa gift card for participation.

Together, you will learn how to structure testimony and public comments, why they are important, and practice writing about our experiences with the city government and voting system.

If you can’t make it, check out and download the CCC’s public comment toolkit and curriculum here.
