American Public Works Association Awards SW Capitol Hwy: Multnomah Village to West Portland Project

On October 19, the Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) awarded the 2023 Project of the Year Award in the category of Environmental, $25 Million to Less Than $75 Million Division to the City of Portland for the SW Capitol Highway: Multnomah Village to West Portland Project.

City Bureaus & Urban Forestry Join Forces to Plant More Street Trees

Urban Forestry is partnering with other Bureaus to pilot a project to plant more street trees in the curb/parking zone. These new curb designs (shown in the photo above) slow traffic to improve road safety and provide space for trees.

Barbara Walker Crossing over Burnside, adjacent trails reopened

Barbara Walker Crossing and the adjacent portions of PP&R’s Wildwood Trail closed in January 2021 to address fallen trees that required removal, plus structural evaluation of the bridge and repairs. Barbara Walker Crossing and adjacent trails were reopened on April 30, 2021.
