Located in SE Portland, the Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood borders the Willamette River on the west, Southeast 29th Avenue on the east, Powell Boulevard on the south and Hawthorne Boulevard on the north. The neighborhood is both residential and industrial.

Meeting Time and Location
General Meetings The Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood District (HAND) Annual Meeting with elections is held in May.
Board Meetings Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood District Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month, 7:00 - 9:00 pm, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 2408 SE 16th Avenue (at Division), in the classroom building. No meetings in August and December. When there are land use/development issues to discuss, a Land Use Meeting is held at 6:30 pm in the same location. Check the website for details. Meetings are open to the public. Everyone is welcome.

Construction and Maintenance

SE Ivon Street Sewer Extension

This project is currently in construction and will be complete by the end of June.

Grand Avenue Riser Stabilization Project

Construction is complete. Repaving is occurring in February 2026.

Safety improvements near Cleveland High School (SE 26th Ave and Powell Blvd)

Opera Blocks Sewer Project

Project design will continue through mid-2025. Construction is anticipated to begin in April of 2026 and take a year to complete.
