In accordance with this acknowledgement, we recognize:

WHEREAS, the City of Portland has long been a hub of Geek Culture with over 150 small businesses and local institutions that attract and support the geek community; and 

WHEREAS, the Geek Community inspires creativity, diversity, and inclusion by highlighting the artistic contributions of all, especially LGBTQ+ and BIPOC constituencies; and 

WHEREAS, Geek Week invites fans of all genres and subcultures to make, imagine, create, dream, and play across the city of Portland; and

WHEREAS, Portland is defining a new narrative, one of unity centered around creating a single comprehensive event: the first city-wide Pop Culture festival, running from September 5 - 14, 2025 across the city and in every community

Now, therefore, I, Keith Wilson, Mayor of the City of Portland, Oregon, the “City of Roses,” do hereby proclaim September 4-15, 2025, to be 

Geek Week 

in Portland and encourage all businesses and community members to engage with and celebrate Geek Week PDX
