In accordance with this acknowledgement, we recognize:
Whereas, Portland Street Response was founded in 2021 to provide behavioral health crisis response to community members in Portland; and
Whereas, the mission of Portland Street Response is to provide compassionate, trauma-informed response to address mental and behavioral health crises, as well as non-emergency situations involving vulnerable populations; and
Whereas, Portland Street Response accomplishes its mission by deploying multidisciplinary teams trained to address immediate crises, provide resource and service connection, and ensure patient stability in the community to prevent future crises; and
Whereas, Portland Street Response is an integral partner among all of Portland’s public safety agencies; and
Whereas, since its inception, Portland Street Response has proven its importance as a first response agency, responding to tens-of-thousands of calls, helping to free police and fire resources for non-criminal calls, and providing service connection to thousands of Portlanders in need; and
Whereas, Portland Street Response continues to grow as a program and embraces the opportunity to meet the ever-increasing needs of the community; and
Whereas, Portlanders are grateful for Portland Street Response team members who continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence, resiliency, compassion, and public service.
Now, therefore, I, Keith Wilson, Mayor of the City of Portland, Oregon, the “City of Roses,” do hereby proclaim August 11 – 15, 2025, to be
Portland Street Response Appreciation Week
In Portland and encourage all community members to celebrate their contribution.
