South Portland-Burlingame Sewer Project

Construction began in June 2023 and will take up to a year and a half to complete.
Environmental Services is constructing a project in the South Portland and South Burlingame neighborhoods that will repair approximately 7,108 linear feet of aging public sewer pipes, that are on average 90 years old. This will help protect public health and the Willamette River Watershed.
Construction began in June of 2024 and is nearing completion.
Environmental Services, in partnership with the Portland Water Bureau, is completing a project to upgrade infrastructure in NW Portland. This project will increase system capacity, reduce the risk of sewer discharges, and improve earthquake resilience for our critical infrastructure.
Construction to be complete by fall 2026
SW Galeburn Street Improvement Project will pave gravel streets, install stormwater facilities, and add sidewalks or walkways, or a combination.
Construction is anticipated to begin mid-June 2025 and should be completed by July 2026.
Environmental Services is starting construction on a project to install a sanitary lift station and 32 feet of sewer pipe on S Terwilliger Boulevard just north of S Northgate Avenue. Unstable ground conditions pose a risk of the pipe failing. This project will address this.
Construction is ongoing and is anticipated to be complete in early 2026.
Environmental Services is constructing a project that will install and upsize public sewer pipes and construct green street planters in the Buckman and Kerns neighborhoods. These improvements will increase sewer capacity, relieve sewer backups, and help reduce street flooding.

Carolina Trunk Sewer Project

Major construction activities will begin in July 2025 and should take about three years to complete.
Environmental Services is constructing a project to replace a section of large concrete sewer pipe in SW Portland. The "Carolina Trunk" pipe runs near SW Slavin Road under Interstate 5 to Macadam Ave. It was built almost 90 years ago and needs to be replaced to prevent sewer and stormwater overflows
Construction is expected to begin in January 2026 and take about a year and a half to complete.
Environmental Services is designing a stormwater management project in the Portsmouth neighborhood to reduce pollutants entering the Columbia Slough. This project is part of a larger effort to improve the water and sediment quality in the Columbia Slough.

Hillsdale Middle Sewer Project

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2030 and will last a year.
Environmental Services has paused the Hillsdale Middle Sewer Project. This project will repair or replace approximately 1.6 linear miles of aging public sewer pipes throughout the neighborhood. Taking these actions now will help protect public health and the environment.

NE 6th Drive Pump Station Project

Construction has begun and the entire project should be completed by Fall of 2025.
Environmental Services is constructing a project to expand and remodel the 44-year-old NE 6th Drive Pump Station in the East Columbia neighborhood. The upgrades will modernize equipment, increase system capacity, and protect public health and the environment.

NE 42nd Ave Infill: Killingsworth to Holman

PBOT will be constructing sidewalks and ADA ramps on the east side of 42nd Avenue between NE Killingsworth Street and Holman Street.
Construction Tentative Summer 2026
PBOT will be making crossing improvements along SE Holgate Boulevard at SE 108th Place and SE 117th Street, and building sidewalk infill along the south side of SE Holgate Boulevard from SE 103rd Street- SE 122nd Street.

Citywide Sump Repair and Replacement

Construction began in April 2023 and will continue through April 2026. Check the webpage for regular project updates.
Environmental Services is removing aging sumps throughout the City and replacing them with new sumps and new sedimentation manholes. This work will help control stormwater runoff and sewer backups.

North Slabtown Sewer Project

Environmental Services has paused the design stage of the North Slabtown Sewer Project. This project will repair or replace approximately 3,569 feet of aging public sewer pipes throughout your neighborhood. Taking these actions now will help protect public health and the environment.
