When community members report concerns about campsites, the Homelessness and Urban Camping Impact Reduction Program assesses each location, helps clean up trash and debris, and evaluates health and safety risks. See how the program served Portland this week.

From January 17 - 23, 2022, the Impact Reduction Program:

  • Received 1185 new campsite reports, including 172 reports of people living in vehicles
  • Received reports about 230 active campsites, accounting for duplicate reports about the same locations
  • Assessed approximately 353 campsites, engaging with people living there, collecting garbage and biohazardous materials, and coordinating with service providers
  • Cleaned 7 campsites, removing only identified garbage and biohazardous materials
  • Removed 11 campsites that posed a risk to health and safety, safely storing campers' personal property

*Due to the Bi-Annual Point-in-Time Street Count, all campsite removal operations will be suspended January 26, 2022 and will resume February 2, 2022*

May of the locations scheduled for removal this week will not be completed and will be continued after February 2, 2022. Crews will continue to remove trash and debris throughout the City.

North Portland

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned the following sites:

  • I-5 SB and N Rosa Parks
  • N Terry and N Burrage
  • Near 5506 N Columbia Ct

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned and removed the following sites:

  • N Rodney and N Russel

Based on health and safety criteria, the following locations have been posted for removal:

  • I-5 SB and N Lombard
  • I-5 SB and N Lombard
  • N Montana and N Lombard
  • N Minnesota-N Ainsworth to N Killingsworth
  • Delta Park Along I-5NB Victory Blvd. onramp area
  • N Tillamook and N Flint
  • PCT N Fessenden – N Columbia
  • I-5 NB and N Rosa Parks

Northeast Portland

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned the following sites:

  • The Impact Reduction Team responded to multiple reports in Northeast to conduct assessments and remove garbage and biohazardous materials.

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned and removed the following sites:

  • NE 97th and E Burnside-NE Glisan
  • I-84 NE 43rd off ramp

Based on health and safety criteria, the following locations have been posted for removal:

  • NE 104th and NE Holiday
  • NE 1st and NE Oregon
  • NE 1st Lloyd/Oregon under I-5
  • NE 28th and NE Holladay

Southeast Portland

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned the following sites:

  • SE 96th and SE Main
  • SE Knapp and SE 92nd
  • SwCT under Selwood Bridge

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned and removed the following sites:

  • SE 120th and SE Clinton (x2)
  • I-205 MUP and SE Schiller-Holgate
  • SE 94th and SE Salmon

Based on health and safety criteria, the following locations have been posted for removal:

  • Near 1515 se Water
  • 124th-127th and E Burnside
  • I-205 MUP SE Schiller-Harold
  • ODOT Parking lot on SE Salmon and SE Water
  • SE Salmon and SE Water PBOT
  • 5299 SE Milwaukie ave (near Oaks Bottom Parking Lot)
  • SE 26th Ave and SE Raymond St
  • SE 3rd and SE Ankeny to Ash
  • SE 3rd and SE Oak to Pine
  • SE Alder between 11th and 12th
  • SE Division under SE Grand to SE Harrison

Southwest Portland

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned the following sites:

  • S Harbor and S Harrison
  • SW Yamhill and SW 10th -11th

Based on health and safety criteria, the following locations have been posted for removal:

  • SW 12th-13th and SW Montgomery
  • SW 1st and SW Washington

Northwest Portland

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned the following sites:

  • The Impact Reduction Team responded to multiple reports in Northwest to conduct assessments and remove garbage and biohazardous materials.

The Impact Reduction Team cleaned and removed the following sites:

  • NW 17th and NW Raleigh-Savier
  • NW Kittridge Ave Bridge
  • NW 16th and NW Overton-Quimby

Based on health and safety criteria, the following locations have been posted for removal:

  • NW 22nd Pl and NW New York-Roosevelt
  • NW 17th and NW Savier-Thurman
  • NW 4th and NW Flanders-Everett
  • NW 18-19 and NW Savier-Thurman
