Hygiene is a human right. Across Portland, more than 125 portable toilets serve people experiencing houselessness.
Across Portland neighborhoods, more than 125 portable toilets and handwashing stations support health and hygiene for people experiencing homelessness and improve neighborhood livability.
Providing hygiene access is part of the Homelessness and Urban Camping Impact Reduction Program's work to minimize the impacts of homelessness today while the City of Portland expands long-term access to safe, affordable housing.
To serve as many people as possible, the City selected locations based on a detailed analysis of areas where houseless people are living, interviews with people living in encampments, an audit of existing public restrooms and an assessment of human waste.
