About the City of Portland

Portland is Oregon's largest city and home to about 636,000 people. Located where the Willamette and Columbia rivers meet, the city is known for its parks, natural areas, and access to outdoor recreation. Portland's economy includes technology, manufacturing, health care, education, and a wide range of small businesses and creative industries.

Portland's government includes a mayor, a city manager, and a 12‑member city council. The city is divided into four council districts, each represented by three elected council members. The city's priorities include housing, transportation, public safety, climate action, and providing fair and reliable services for the community.

Request public records

Looking for City documents but can't find them with a portland.gov or Efiles record search? Submit a public record request online through the Portland Public Records Center - the online system that helps the city respond quickly and coordinate requests involving multiple bureaus.

Public records support transparency in local government. If you're a journalist working with a public information officer, let them know you've submitted a request so we can help track it and support your deadline.
