Career Advancement
Facilities team members fill three major job classifications, providing opportunities for career advancement.
- Facilities Worker – Entry-level position performing a variety of general repair, maintenance and operations work at City of Portland buildings.
- Facilities Maintenance Specialist – Mid-level position performing more complex repair, maintenance and operations work, including HVAC systems.
- Facilities Maintenance Technician – Senior-level position, requiring a Limited Maintenance Electrical license and performing more specialized work.

Pay and Benefits
The City of Portland’s comprehensive benefits package includes health care coverage for employees and their dependents, as well as employer-paid contributions to the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System.
Positions are represented by the District Council of Trade Unions. Read the current labor agreement.
Job Location and Hours
Most positions work from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call work and opportunities for overtime. Team members report to the Facilities headquarters at 3315 NW Yeon Ave. in industrial Northwest Portland, which offers free parking. Fieldwork may be required during your shift, including visits to multiple sites throughout Portland using a City vehicle.
