How it all began
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler created the FITCOG in June 2021 to ensure the community had a meaningful role in developing and shaping how the Portland Police Bureau’s Focused Intervention Team (FIT) works to end gun violence. The FITCOG works with the FIT in real time to select members, review training, and oversee their engagement with the community. Based on this work, the FITCOG also makes recommendations to reduce gun violence through prevention, intervention, and response.
What to expect
- The annual meeting will open with the Chairperson, Kimberly Dixon, sharing significant highlights from the group's history, achievements, and the impacts of its work. Then, Vice-chairperson Dr. Gina Ronning will discuss FITCOG's performance, current initiatives, and plans for the future.
- In the second half of the meeting, the FITCOG invites the community to share insights, give feedback, and ask questions.
