Information
PF&R Station 6

Fire Station 6 – NW Industrial – Fire Boathouse

Fire Station 6 is located at 3660 Northwest front Ave. on the West Bank of the Willamette River in Northwest industrial Portland. The station's response area is primarily heavy industry and bulk storage, manufacturing, and warehousing of petroleum and chemicals for shipment by rail, sea, and roadways; however recent development has converted part of the industrial waterfront to residential use. The station's four-member (per shift) staffing swings from engine to boat as needed. Station 06 houses Engine 6, and on the dock, they have a boat house and Fire Boat 6, The George Williams. The marine response area for Station 6 primarily covers 20 miles of the Willamette River and Multnomah Channel. The crew must also be knowledgeable of the Columbia River as they often respond into Station 17’s (Hayden Island) marine response area for support. The Fire Boat David Campbell, which is now out of service, is also housed at Station 6. The fire boat David Campbell is the most recognized piece of fire equipment in the fleet and is best known for its patriotic colored water displays during welcoming and escort duties for the U.S. Navy and Canadian fleets during Rose Festival. Built in 1927, The David Campbell is listed on the national maritime inventory of historic vessels.
