Fire Station 5 – Hillsdale
Fire station 5 is located in the Hillsdale neighborhood of Southwest Portland and serves the Hillsdale, Bridlemile, and Hayhurst neighborhoods. The station was built in 1959 and currently houses engine 5. During the summer of 1987, Station 5 successfully pioneered Portland Fire’s paramedic engine concept and remains an ALS (advanced Life Support) paramedic engine to this day, along with all of Portland’s fire engines. The station enjoys the reputation of being very active in fire prevention education involving preschool and elementary school students in their response area. They are also very active with many neighborhood organizations including Southwest NET (Neighborhood Emergency Teams).
