Station 28 - Hollywood
Station 28 is located at 5540 N.E. Sandy Blvd and serves the Beaumont-Wilshire, Cully, Hollywood, Rose City Park, and Roseway neighborhoods. It is the oldest working Firehouse in Portland, having been built in 1913. Station 28 received a remodel with an addition in 2005 after being closed for 21 years. Station 28's crews coordinate and run the Portland Fire Cadet Program. The program is for youths between 16 and 20 years of age. The program runs from September through May and consists of weekly training every Saturday. From the drill ground, assignments, quizzes, and “ride-alongs”, each of the cadets gains a basic understanding of fire suppression, CPR-First Aid, vehicle extrication, forcible entry, and command structure knowledge.
Station 28 responds to a variety of medical and fire emergencies involving residential and commercial properties. The fire management area includes several high rises, Interstate 84, the Tri-Met MAX line, and a portion of the Union Pacific Railroad line along Interstate 84.
