Station 27 – Forest Heights
Station 27 watches over the City of Portland from Skyline Blvd at an elevation of 1,120 feet. The station was opened in 2006 and serves the communities of Forest Heights, the West Hills, and Forest Park. The station houses Engine 27, Brush Unit 27, and a Jeep for 4-wheel access incident locations. Station 27 is the largest fire management area in the city and often responds with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue for mutual aid assistance. Station 27's fire management area has unique challenges due to the topography of steep hillsides and limited fire hydrants. The long response time of additional resources, as well as homes in the wildland urban interface can make station 27 feel like a rural fire station. During winter storms, Station 27 is often the barometer for the rest of the Fire Bureau, reporting on snow and ice conditions for the Chief’s issuing the chain up orders down the hill. Members of Station 27 take great pride in caring for the large station, community room, and the beautiful grounds surrounding them.
