Fire Camp

Are you a young woman between the ages of 16 and 20? Want to learn about a career in firefighting? Apply for the metro area fire camp for women.

Notice:  The 2020 Portland Metro Fire Camp for Young Women had to be canceled due to health concerns in the wake of the COVID-19 virus.  Both the Portland and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Camps have been canceled.

Portland Fire and Rescue hosts a fire training camp for young women ages 16 - 20 years old. This three-day camp is an opportunity to experience the unique aspects of being a firefighter. 

Work stations will include:

  • Search and rescue
  • Jaws of Life operation
  • Climbing the aerial ladder
  • Fire hose operation
  • Forcing doors

Young women will also learn about nutrition, physical fitness, interview skills, and EMS.
