How Can Your Strengths Benefit Your Community?
Firefighting is exciting and strenuous work. We serve the community in more ways than our namesake. To name a few, we respond to fire and medical emergencies, car crashes, high-angle and confined spaces rescues, and hazardous materials spills. We also work to prevent emergencies through building inspections, community health programs, and public education. Some of us are even arson investigators.
While our work certainly requires physical strength and stamina, it also demands empathy, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills. The diversity of 911 calls we respond to requires a workforce where our collective strengths balance our individual weaknesses. One thing we all hold in common is a strong desire to help others. We are professional problem solvers, and every member of our team brings something unique and valuable to the community.
