The Historic Belmont Firehouse Museum features include an 1860 hose cart, the “Listen & Learn” 9-1-1 call phone booth, the fire pole, and a realistic emergency response on “The Fire Engine Experience Simulator.” The Belmont Firehouse is not just about history and technology, it also promotes fire & life safety education for every guest.
Exhibits and stories help visitors recognize ways in which they are vulnerable to injury and fire. Every visitor leaves with ideas and techniques to improve their own personal safety and the safety of their loved ones.
The museum is open to the public on Wednesdays from 9am - 3pm. We encourage all members of the public to join us and explore the rich history of Portland Fire & Rescue and learn about life safety!
The Safety Learning Center & Fire Museum is a joint project between Portland Fire & Rescue and the Friends of Portland Fire & Rescue - formerly known as the Jeff Morris Fire & Life Safety Foundation.
For visits outside of the Wednesday 9am - 3pm open hours, requests must be received at least 2 weeks before the preferred visit date. Upon receipt of your request, a Tour Coordinator will contact you by phone and/or e-mail to confirm your request. Activities are planned based on the age and skill level of the audience. We look forward to your visit!
