FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City Auditor’s Office issued a letter of warning and education to political committee Portland Accountability PAC for not disclosing required dominant contributor funding information on a mailer sent to Portland voters.

The Elections Office investigated a complaint about a Portland Accountability PAC mailer sent to Portland voters and found evidence of five violations of campaign finance regulations to support the allegation. Communications to voters require not only the top five dominant contributors to be listed, but also the name of businesses from which the contributor obtained a majority of income over the previous 5 years. The Elections Officer determined that Portland Accountability PAC’s mailer did not comply with the requirements.

The determination letter for Complaint No. 2022-07-PAP is posted on the City Elections Office website.

More information about the City’s campaign regulations can be found in City Charter Chapter 3, Article 3 and Portland City Code Title 2, Chapter 2.10.
