Accept the 2021 Annual Report on Sister City Activities

The leadership of Portland’s sister cities is pleased to present for your approval a yearly report of activities and projects undertaken in the 2021 calendar year, which includes a brief presentation by representatives from each sister city association.

The following are Portland’s sister and friendship cities:

  • Portland-Sapporo Sister City Association – Japan (1959)
  • Portland-Guadalajara Sister City Association – Mexico (1983)
  • Portland-Ashkelon Sister City Association – Israel (1987, 35-year Anniversary)
  • Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association – Taiwan (1988)
  • Portland-Ulsan Sister City Association – South Korea (1987, 35-year Anniversary)
  • Portland-Khabarovsk Sister City Association – Russia (1988)
  • Portland-Suzhou Sister City Association – China (1988)
  • Portland-Mutare Sister City Association – Zimbabwe (1991)
  • Portland-Bologna Sister City Association – Italy (2003)
  • Portland-Lviv Friendship City Association – Ukraine (2022)

In the spirit of the Sister Cities International Program, Portland’s nine sister city associations and one friendship city association foster greater understanding and improved international ties for the Portland metropolitan area by facilitating valuable exchanges between our local community and communities across the globe. Today, the sister city presidents and representatives report on their association’s ongoing efforts and initiatives.
