Bio:
Charity Kreider is a public health and education professional with over fifteen years combined experience in the government, non-profit, and private sectors. She has worked as a K-12 teacher, and an education policy program manager at NWEA. She has a Master of Public Health and worked and in a range of positions in public health in Oregon and Minnesota. She is experienced and highly skilled at building strong relationships and collaboratively developing programs and policies that are informed by evidence and guided by equitable community engagement. She has both grant writing and grant management experience. She demonstrates keen and specific awareness of health and educational disparities nationally and locally. She grew up in rural poverty and was a first-generation college student. She worked internationally and in urban settings which gave her a broad perspective on how health and well-being is defined and experienced among diverse populations. She is raising two children in Portland and has had deep personal experience navigating a range of systems for a child with significant health needs. In her spare time enjoys long distance running, skiing and cooking.
Statement of Interest:
I am a passionate public health and education professional. My superpower is authentic connection. I’m excited [for this position] because I have always been involved in public service, both personally and professionally and as a mother of two children I want to contribute to not only their well-being, but the population of all of Portland’s children, especially those who are most affected by poverty and both individual and structural racism.

Purpose of Proposed Legislation and Background Information
Appoint Charity Kreider to the Portland Children’s Levy Allocation Committee to replace Traci Rossi, the city appointed citizen member of the Committee who resigned as of June 30, 2024. Ms. Kreider’s term will begin upon appointment and continue for two years (December 11, 2026).
