Councilor Green prioritizes working on policies that move forward economic, housing, and climate justice and delivering for Portlanders in District 4 and beyond. In 2025 Councilor Green helped champion and pass:

A resolution to protect and expand Portland Street Response
A Social Housing resolution, laying the groundwork for a future of permanently affordable, high-quality public housing
An ordinance to ban predatory AI rent-setting algorithms
An ordinance to impose new fees on private detention facilities like the ICE facility in the South Waterfront.

We stood with organized labor, from picket lines to policy, and cut red tape for critical projects like moving the Cottonwood School away from the ICE facility and expediting crosswalks at Duniway Elementary School. And we fought for faster permitting for Preschool For All facilities, while defending this vital program against attacks from big business and the Governor's office.

In 2026, Councilor Green has moved forward the Keep Portland Housed Package, oversight on the unspent housing dollars, and Inner Eastside for All. He understands that Portlanders are facing dire circumstances and is working hard to advance an economic development strategy that centers working families, not corporate interests.

The Mayor's proposed budget includes unacceptable cuts to staff in public safety, parks, and other core service areas that Portlanders rely on. Unless council acts, Portland will lose capacity to deliver essential services like public safety and parks maintenance, that will be difficult and expensive to restore in the future.

Redirects $1 million from the city's homeless sweeps budget into programs that provide basic hygiene, public sanitation, and workforce development programs. These include public bathrooms, free laundry services, and low-barrier job opportunities that meet people where they are. We can address basic sanitation, and we can do it in a way that respects our shared humanity.
