Media Advisory – Councilors Green, Avalos, Morillo, and Labor Leaders to Hold Press Event on Budget Amendment to Protect Frontline Positions, Core Services

Label: Press release
Published

Who – Councilors Green, Avalos, and Morillo will be joined by labor union representatives

What – Press conference

When – Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. PST

Where – Portland City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave, Portland, OR 97204

Why – Mayor Keith Wilson's proposed budget includes unacceptable cuts to staff in public safety, parks, and other core service areas. Unless council acts, Portland will lose capacity to deliver basic services like public safety, parks maintenance, that will be difficult and expensive to restore in the future. Councilors Mitch Green, Candace Avalos, and Angelita Morillo are leading the Services First budget amendment to restore these vital services. Labor organizations are joining councilors in solidarity at Portland City Hall to demand that Council takes action to protect frontline jobs and the essential services they deliver.
