Councilor Mitch Green hosted a rally and press conference with veterans on October 5, 2025, at Portland City Hall. The event was attended by dozens of veterans and more than 100 people with emotional testimony from veterans of multiple conflicts who framed the current moment as a direct consequence of decades of militarization. The rally served as a powerful rebuttal to the Trump administration's characterization of Portland as a war zone.
