Community and Public Safety Committee

The Community and Public Safety Committee meets the first and third Tuesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The agenda is published below by 9:00 a.m. Friday before the meeting.

  • Includes efforts to make Portlanders safer, including prevention, intervention, and response; community safety and violence prevention programs including but not limited to Public Safety Service Area; all law enforcement officers of the city; emergency response, violence prevention, and crisis response systems; and the programs, policies, and Bureaus addressing community and public safety needs. 
  • City departments: 
    • Portland Police Bureau, Fire & Rescue (including CHAT), Portland Street Response, Violence Prevention and Ceasefire, Emergency Communications, Bureau of Emergency Management, law and code enforcement functions of Park Ranger programs, liaison to County and State law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies

In accordance with Portland City Code and state law, City Council holds hybrid public meetings, which provide for both virtual and in-person participation. Councilors may elect to attend remotely by video and teleconference, or in-person. The City makes several avenues available for the public to listen to and watch the broadcast of this meeting, including the City's YouTube Channel, the Open Signal website, and Xfinity channel 30 and 330.
