The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) installed three new rapid flashing beacon crossings and filled in sidewalk gaps in areas along 122nd Avenue between SE Foster Road and NE Sandy Boulevard to improve safety for travelers.

122nd Avenue Plan: Safety, Access, Transit

The 122nd Avenue Plan identifies improvements to increase safety and improve access for all. Plan recommendations include changes to the street cross-section, additional enhanced crossings, lighting, signal changes, and more.
Project planning in Spring and Summer 2025. Construction expected in 2028-2029.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be addressing major deficiencies and improving comfort and access for people walking, biking, and taking transit along and across 148th Avenue.

20s Bikeway Project

The 20s Bikeway provides a major new link in Portland’s bikeway network. The 9.1-mile long route spans the length of the city, from the Springwater Corridor in the south to NE Lombard St in the north, connecting many neighborhoods with some of the highest rates of bicycle commuting in the country.

2nd Avenue Reconfiguration Project

The project will shorten crossing distances for pedestrians and provide a new northbound bicycling connection into Old Town from the existing bike lanes on Stark and Oak Streets.

3rd Avenue Reconfiguration Project

The community-endorsed plan will result in safer pedestrian crossings, a bicycle lane, reduced travel speeds for motor vehicles, and increased pedestrian space.

The 4M Neighborhood Greenway will be constructed on SE Mill St., SE Millmain Dr., and SE Main St. between SE 130th Ave. and SE 174th Ave. It will create new opportunities for people to walk, bike, and roll on streets running parallel to the high-traffic SE Stark and SE Division corridors.

50s Greenway

60s Greenway: North of NE Klickitat Street

PBOT plans to add a new northern spur that will connect to the 70s Greenway, north of NE Klickitat Street.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation created the 60s Neighborhood Greenway to establish low-stress neighborhood streets that are great places to walk, bike, roll, and play. This north-south greenway connects destinations in the South Tabor, Mt. Scott-Arletta, Foster-Powell neighborhoods.

70s Greenway: Cully Connector

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) and Metro are partnering to make NE 72nd Avenue safe and comfortable for pedestrians and people biking by building a neighborhood greenway through the heart of the Cully and Roseway neighborhoods from NE Lombard Street and Sandy Boulevard.

70s Neighborhood Greenway: SE Flavel to NE Sacramento

72Foster

REACH CDC developed 72Foster to bring 101 units of affordable intergenerational housing to Southeast Portland.

73Foster

73Foster is a new construction project with 64 affordable units, including 29 family-sized units and 22 units of Permanent Supportive Housing, from REACH CDC. It will be located on the SE Foster corridor, connecting diverse neighborhoods and center centers of cultural commerce.

82nd Avenue: Beech and Ash Crossings

As part of this project, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will make critical pedestrian safety improvements to 82nd Avenue at NE Beech Street and at SE Ash Street.

82nd Avenue Critical Fixes

PBOT is investing in 82nd Avenue to deliver critical fixes now. The needed urgent safety and maintenance repairs to the corridor include paving, crossings, lighting, safety improvements at intersections, and sidewalk improvements.
