SE 11th & 12th Ave Improvements (SE Ankeny to SE Clay)

To improve safety and keep the Central Eastside moving, PBOT is restriping SE 11th & 12th Ave (Ankeny-Clay) to add a wider shared travel lane for cars, freight and buses alongside new bike lanes.

Lair Hill Neighborhood Traffic Access Management Project

Implementation Test Winter 2019 to Summer 2020
This nine-month pilot project reduced cut-through traffic in the Lair Hill area south of downtown, keeping regional car traffic heading east on the Ross Island Bridge on safer routes. The project limited through-traffic on narrow residential streets from Dec. 16, 2019 through Sept. 1, 2020.

Force Avenue Pump Station Project

Design continues. Construction of the new pump station is anticipated to begin in December of 2026 and take two years to complete.
Environmental Services is designing a project to remodel the 51-year-old Force Avenue Pump Station in North Portland. Increased pumping capacity will accommodate growth and future demands on the sewer system. Improved reliability, access, and safety will protect public health and the environment.

NE 33rd Drive Pump Station Upgrades Project

Construction is expected to begin in late Summer 2026. Work will be completed by Fall 2028.
Environmental Services has constructed a project to remodel and expand the NE 33rd Drive Pump Station in the Sunderland district. Upgrades to the 50-year-old pump station will enhance equipment, increase system capacity, and protect public health and the environment from overflow and sewage leakage.

Lower Northwest Sewer Capacity Project

This project is in the design stage and construction is paused until spring of 2032.
Environmental Services is designing a project that will upgrade public sewer and stormwater pipes and install new water quality treatment vaults in Northwest Portland. This project will protect the public and the environment by reducing street flooding and sewage releases to homes and businesses.

Johnson Creek Oxbow Restoration Project

The project is in the design phase. Construction has been delayed until 2031.
We are designing a project to restore habitat and reconnect Johnson Creek and Errol Creek with their natural floodplains. This work will help protect endangered salmon, improve water quality, provide habitat for birds and other wildlife, and reduce flood risk in the surrounding neighborhood.

Woods Trunk Sewer Project

Construction is expected to begin in December 2026 and take up to two years to complete.
Environmental Services is designing a project to repair 1,700 feet of aging, large-diameter brick sewer pipes in South Portland. Having provided over 125 years of service, the pipes require repairs to maintain reliable sewer service and protect public health and the environment.

Sheridan Trunk Sewer Project - Duniway Park

Construction is currently scheduled to begin in Fall 2027 and will take about two and a half years to complete.
Environmental Services is designing a project to replace approximately 1600 feet of aging, large-diameter public sewer pipes along Duniway Park. Having provided over 100 years of service, the pipes require repairs to maintain reliable sewer service and protect public health and the environment.

Springwater Wetland Enhancement Project

Construction started in Spring 2024. This project to help restore Johnson Creek is now complete.
Environmental Services recently completed construction the Springwater Wetland Enhancement Project. This restoration project connects community with nature, reduces local flooding, improves wildlife habitat and naturally manages stormwater in the Johnson Creek watershed.

SW Galeburn: SW Capitol Highway to SW 41st Ave Street Improvement Project

SW Galeburn Street Improvement Project will update street lighting, pave gravel streets, install stormwater facilities, and add sidewalks or walkways, or a combination.

Cully Neighborhood Street Improvement Project

Construction 2026-2028
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will improve several streets in the Cully neighborhood by paving gravel streets, adding sidewalks, and traffic calming. The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) and Portland Water Bureau (PWB) are project partners, upgrading area infrastructure.

S Terwilliger Sewer and Lift Station Project

Construction activities began April 2026 and should be completed by June 2027.
Environmental Services is constructing a project to install a sanitary lift station and 32 feet of sewer pipe on S Terwilliger Boulevard just north of S Northgate Avenue. Unstable ground conditions pose a risk of the pipe failing. This project will address this.

Carolina Trunk Sewer Project

Major construction activities began in July 2025. Construction is expected to continue through fall 2028.
Environmental Services is constructing a project to replace a section of large concrete sewer pipe in SW Portland. The Carolina Trunk pipe runs near SW Slavin Road under Interstate 5 to Macadam Ave. It was built almost 90 years ago and needs to be replaced to prevent sewer and stormwater overflows.

Columbia Slough Outfall 57 Stormwater Project

Construction is expected to begin late November 2026 and take just over a year complete.
In late November 2026, Environmental Services will begin construction on a stormwater management project in the Portsmouth neighborhood to reduce pollutants entering the Columbia Slough. This project is part of a larger effort to improve the water and sediment quality in the Columbia Slough.

NE 42nd Ave Infill: Killingsworth to Holman

PBOT will be constructing sidewalks and ADA ramps on the east side of 42nd Avenue between NE Killingsworth Street and Holman Street.
