The 4M Neighborhood Greenway will be constructed on SE Mill St., SE Millmain Dr., and SE Main St. between SE 130th Ave. and SE 174th Ave. It will create new opportunities for people to walk, bike, and roll on streets running parallel to the high-traffic SE Stark and SE Division corridors.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is improving safety for people walking, taking transit, biking, and driving on SE 162nd Ave between SE Stark/Alder St and SE Powell Blvd. The safe crossings are being constructed as part of a partnership between TriMet and the City of Portland.

The majority of this project has been completed. Sidewalks, street crossings, bikeway facilities, paved paths, and other safety improvements have been constructed on the 150s Neighborhood Greenway and the 100s Neighborhood Greenway. Work is ongoing for a portion of the 4M Neighborhood Greenway.

The Portland Water Bureau is planning a new water filtration facility and pipelines that will be key components of a more resilient water system. The filtration facility and pipelines are needed to meet federal and state drinking water regulations and will be in operation by September 30, 2027.

In March 2019, Portland Parks & Recreation received a safety and structural stability assessment of Montavilla Park’s picnic shelter. The report indicates that the structure is presumed to be unsafe and must be removed to ensure visitor safety.

Construction began February 2023 and is anticipated to continue until April 2024. During this time visitors to Washington Park should expect changing traffic patterns, short delays, and an excellent experience in the Park.
