70s Greenway: Cully Connector

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) and Metro are partnering to make NE 72nd Avenue safe and comfortable for pedestrians and people biking by building a neighborhood greenway through the heart of the Cully and Roseway neighborhoods from NE Lombard Street and Sandy Boulevard.
Summer 2024 (Phase 1); Spring 2025 (Phase 2)
This Local Improvement District (LID) will construct street, sidewalk, and stormwater improvements on portions of NE 97th Avenue and on E Burnside, NE Davis, and NE Couch streets.

Irving Park Stormwater Project

Environmental Services and Portland Parks & Recreation collaborated on a project to build nature patches and rain gardens to manage stormwater in Irving Park. The project will help prevent nearby flooding, sewer basement backups, and sewage overflows into the Willamette River during storms.

Cully Neighborhood Street Improvement Project

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will improve several streets in the Cully neighborhood by paving gravel streets, adding sidewalks, and traffic calming. The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) and Portland Water Bureau (PWB) are project partners, upgrading area infrastructure.
Project design continues. Construction is anticipated to begin in June of 2024 and take up to six months to complete.
Environmental Services is designing a project in the Laurelhurst and North Tabor neighborhoods to repair sewer pipes and construct green street planters to manage stormwater runoff from streets and roofs. This project will relieve basement sewer backup risk and reduce street flooding in the area.

Grand Avenue Riser Stabilization Project

Project design is nearly complete. Construction is anticipated to begin in June of 2024 and will take up to five months to complete.
Environmental Services is designing a project to stabilize soils at maintenance hole risers located along Grand Avenue. Soils are settling, requiring layers of asphalt to provide safe driving surfaces. This project will design a solution to stabilize soils and prevent settlement.

Kenton Priority Outfalls Plan

Environmental Services is developing the Kenton Priority Outfalls Plan. This planning effort will protect public health and the environment by identifying ways to reduce pollutants in stormwater entering the Columbia Slough. 

NE Grand and NE Schuyler Sewer Project

Construction is currently paused.
Environmental Services has started construction on a sewer project to repair 165 feet of public sewer piping in the Lloyd neighborhood. The project will protect public health, property, and the environment by increasing the capacity of the public sewer system.

NE Killingsworth Safer Crossings Project

PBOT will install nine safer crossings on NE Killingsworth including pedestrian islands and curb extensions. This project is in design and will construct the crossings in the summer of 2024 and summer 2025.
