Gresham trestle upgrades

We have strengthened the structural supports (known as trestles) that hold a water pipe near Kelly Creek and Beaver Creek in Gresham. This project is part of our commitment to preparedness and our mission of serving excellent water every minute of every day.

60s Greenway: North of NE Klickitat Street

PBOT plans to add a new northern spur that will connect to the 70s Greenway, north of NE Klickitat Street.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) constructed bike lanes on SW 35th Avenue by reorganizing the road. The project is funded by Fixing Our Streets and is identified in the Southwest in Motion plan.
Construction December 2022 through June 2023
This project includes a multiuse path and sidewalk infill where sections of the sidewalk network are missing. Corners in both areas within the project improvements will be brought up to current ADA standards.

NW Thurman Sewer Reconstruction Project

This project is in the final stage of construction and is anticipated to be fully completed by November.
Environmental Services has completed construction on a project to reconstruct the public sewer system in NW Thurman Street and the Willamette Heights Neighborhood. Sewer and stormwater improvements will increase capacity of the 100-year-old sewer, relieve sewer backups, and reduce street flooding.
Construction began in June 2021 and was completed in the spring of 2022.
The Balch Creek Trash Rack collects sediment, large logs, and other woody debris that Balch Creek carries down from Forest Park. It is aging and needs to be replaced. Work on this important project is now complete.

N Thunderbird Way Outfall Repair Project

Construction began in August of 2024. Major construction activities are now complete. Some additional repair work will occur in 2024.
Environmental Services has completed major construction activities on a project to repair aging stormwater pipe and outfall that is in deteriorating condition. This repair will help to protect the public and our environment by reducing costly breaks, leaks, and blockages.
Construction has been completed.
Environmental Services installed sewer monitoring equipment along the Portsmouth force main sewer on Swan Island. The equipment is part of a larger monitoring system that helps prevent sewage overflows to the Willamette River and keeps public sewer pipes operating efficiently and safely.
Construction: 2023-2024
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be improving several local streets in the Division-Midway area by paving gravel streets, adding sidewalks or walkways, or a combination. Funding comes from the Local Transportation Infrastructure Charge (LTIC) and other sources.
Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2024 and take about six months to complete.
Environmental Services—your sewer and stormwater utility—is designing a project to replace an aging culvert underneath a driveway of Fred’s Marina. The new culvert will improve water quality, remove invasive vegetation, and restore important fish passage and habitat.
