Lead-based paint was previously used on play equipment prior to 1980. This isn’t necessarily a problem until paint deteriorates and poses an exposure risk from inhalation of dust or ingestion of paint chips.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is constructing a new active pedestrian and bicycle bridge over I‐405 at NW Flanders Street. The bridge will connect the NW District and the Pearl District with a safer and more comfortable active crossing over I‐405.

The N Greeley Multi-Use Path will be, a two-way, one-mile path on the east side of N Greeley Avenue from N Going Street to N Interstate Avenue. The two-way bicycle and pedestrian facility will be protected from vehicle traffic with continuous concrete barriers. N Greeley Avenue will also be repaved.

Thanks to funding from the Parks Replacement Bond and a contribution from System Development Charges, outdated play structures will be replaced with safe and updated play equipment and rubberized safety surfacing at Creston Park's playground.

In March 2019, Portland Parks & Recreation received a safety and structural stability assessment of Montavilla Park’s picnic shelter. The report indicates that the structure is presumed to be unsafe and must be removed to ensure visitor safety.

PBOT is working with Prosper Portland to build pedestrian enhancements along N Lombard Street to create a more comfortable environment for people walking. Work will be concentrated at N Lombard Street and N Greeley Avenue (West Node), and N Lombard Street and NE Albina Avenue (East Node).
