Community Safety Resources

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) helps communities manage and create safe spaces through environmental design principles. The CPTED brochure below offers an introduction to CPTED and is available in multiple languages.

Trauma-Informed Care Resources The attachment below provides a local directory of community based-care that can be provided after a traumatic or violent incident.

Homelessness impacts our whole Portland community. The City of Portland has a host of resources for those experiencing homelessness as well as concerned community members. Visit this website to find information about  services aimed at improving public health, a map of current campsites, and more.

The Joint Office of Homeless Services oversees the delivery of services to people experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. The office represents a shared commitment between Multnomah County and the City of Portland to making services more accessible. Visit the website here.

A hate incident occurs when a behavior based in bias creates a hostile environment or belittles, restricts, harms, or alienates targeted persons. If you have been the target or a witness to a hate incident, you can take action. Report a hate incident at ReportHatePdx.com

Emergency preparedness is the process of amassing information and supplies to quickly and safely respond to unforeseen circumstances. The Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) offers these preparedness resources to help you become prepared for an emergency.

Vision Zero is a program that aims to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on Portland streets by 2025. Visit the Vision Zero website to learn more and access important safety tools. 

Bicycle theft is a known issue in Portland. According to the Portland Bureau of Transportation (POBT), nearly 3,000 bikes are reported stolen to the police every year. 529 Garage allows you to register your bicycle, free of charge. This registration will help to track your bicycle if it is stolen.

Safe + Strong Mental and Emotional Health resources includes culturally specific, LGBTQIA+, and peer networks care in your community.

The Juggling Act: A Guide to Mental Wellness While Teleworking & Homeschooling

The Portland Metro Crisis Line  Lines for Life now has a line for racial equity support for the BIPOC community.  BIPOC counselors are available M-F from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at 503-575-3764.

SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746. This service provides 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling and support for people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters.
