“The Office of Violence Prevention's Street Level Request for Proposal, based on the Cure Violence model, is now open for applications.

We encourage all individuals and organizations who are doing impactful work in our community to apply. The goal of this RFP is to implement the Cure Violence Model in the City of Portland to reduce gun violence in our community.

Developed by Dr.Gary Slutkin, an epidemiologist who previously worked on infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and cholera, the Cure Violence model is based on the idea that violence is contagious, and that it can be treated like a disease, interrupting the transmission of violence by using a public health framework.

Evaluation of the Cure Violence model has shown promising results in reducing gun violence in various cities across the world, including Chicago, Baltimore, and London. So please help us spread the word about this opportunity by sharing it with your networks. Your support can help make a significant difference in creating safer communities for all. Apply now to implement the Cure Violence model and join us in our mission to reduce gun violence. Thank you for your partnership in this important work.”
