Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Party On, Portland! and National Night Out?

In 2022, Party On, Portland! was created to welcome block parties of all kinds, including traditional National Night Out parties. Whether community members want to celebrate local public safety programs, or want to have a pet costume party, cook out, neighborhood parade, etc., everyone is welcome to participate.

Why has National Night Out been separated from Party On, Portland!?

Due to budget, staffing, and overtime constraints, the City of Portland will be coordinating four free National Night Out events in each of the City's voting districts. By consolidating public safety programs into these four events, the City aims to streamline community participation and create more meaningful opportunities for residents to connect with multiple programs in one place.

National Night Out events are hosted by the City of Portland with the goal of bringing community members together with local (non-federal) public safety program staff.
