The Safe Blocks Team, a program of the Office of Violence Prevention, hosted a housing information expo near Dawson Park in the Eliot neighborhood on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. By partnering with local service providers such as Cascadia Health, Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), and Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church, this event offered crucial resources to the Eliot community. Many participants shopped the free food pantry provided by the church and enjoyed a barbeque lunch courtesy of Portland Fire & Rescue.

Other City agencies joined the effort to offer services and information about their activities in the community, including the Street Services Coordination Center, Portland Street Response, Portland Parks & Recreation, and the Portland Bureau of Transportation

Events like this respond to the needs expressed by the community through Safe Blocks’ annual community safety survey as well as ongoing community engagement efforts in Eliot.
