Safe Blocks Training
The Safe Blocks Program provides no-cost trainings and services to Portlanders. Our trainings range in topics from personal safety to public safety resources to creating fun and safe spaces.

Personal Safety

This two-hour workshop provides a safe space to learn tools for keeping yourself and others safe including assertiveness, de-escalation, escape options, and how to support others who may be targeted. This hands-on workshop builds on the basics of understanding and listening to our true intuition — clearing the way of our implicit biases.

Community Safety 101

An introduction to Community Safety resources and tools available within the City of Portland and Multnomah County. Covers topics such as public safety services available, reporting emergencies/non-emergencies, CPTED, basic emergency preparedness, building and strengthening relationships with other community members, community safety event planning and more.

CPTED Basics 

This 1.5 hour virtual or in-person training provides a basic understanding of the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. Learn about specific projects in Portland where environmental changes have been implemented to create safer spaces.

Request Help with Community Building Ideas 

We provide comprehensive consultations covering a wide range of topics, including identifying and accessing resources, organizing meetings with stakeholders, facilitating discussions, and navigating complex permitting procedures. We aim to foster an ongoing culture of safety and connectedness within each community.

Community Building Events

We also help communities throughout Portland host the annual Party On, Portland! (formerly National Night Out) events during the first two weeks of August. More information can be found here
