In July 2022, Portland’s Community Safety Division (CSD) welcomed three critical safety-focused work units to the Division:
- Office of Violence Prevention;
- Safe Blocks Program; and
- Youth Against Violence/Rose City Self-Defense programs (formerly the Strengths Programs).
At the same time, CSD launched the Safer Summer PDX – Focused Investment (SSPDX-FI) program under the Mayor’s Gun Violence Emergency Declaration.
Together, these offices and programs form the new CSD Community Investment Team, which is part of CSD's Alternative Response & Prevention Unit. The Community Investment Team's mission is to catalyze the power of communities to advance safety.
We are pleased to share a report of highlights from the Community Investment Team's first six months, as well as the SSPDX-FI Final Report.
