City Code Section
- A. This Title is deemed an exercise of the police powers of the City for the preservation and protection of the public health, peace, safety and welfare, and all of its provisions must be liberally construed for that purpose.
- B. This Title establishes regulations affecting or relating to structures, premises, processes, and safeguards regarding:
- 1. The hazard of fire and explosion arising from the storage, handling or use of structures, materials or devices;
- 2. Conditions hazardous to life, property or public welfare in the occupancy of structures or premises;
- 3. Fire hazards in the structure or on the premises from occupancy or operations;
- 4. Matters related to the construction, extension, repair, alteration or removal of fire suppression, fire alarm systems and hazardous material storage, dispensing and use.
- C. The provisions of this Title apply equally to both public and private property, and are binding upon public officers and employees and all other persons except as may be otherwise specifically provided herein.
- D. This Title is applicable in addition to the measures of fire prevention as set forth in the laws and regulations of the State of Oregon and the United States. The provisions of this Title, insofar as they are substantially the same as existing titles or ordinances relating to the same subject matter, must be construed as restatements and continuations and not as new enactments.
