On Oct. 21, 2021, the Metro Council — the elected board that oversees the regional government for the greater Portland metropolitan area — approved Resolution 21-5210 to declare a vacancy on the Metro Council for District 6.
District 6 includes portions of Northeast, Southeast, and Southwest Portland. Some communities within District 6 include: Ashcreek, Brentwood-Darlington, Bridlemile, Crestwood, Foster-Powell, Goose Hollow, Hayhurst, Kerns, Laurelhurst, Lents, Montavilla, Mt. Tabor, Multnomah, Reed, and Sellwood-Moreland.
The position will be vacant until a councilor is appointed by majority vote of the Metro Council. The new councilor’s term shall end on Jan. 3, 2023. The annual salary of a Metro Councilor is $51,565. An election to serve the final two years of the previous councilor’s original term will also be held in 2022. Candidates for District 6 must file by March 8 for the May 17 primary.
