About Interim Engagement Officer Laura Oppenheimer

Laura Oppenheimer, the city's Chief Communications Officer, is also serving as Interim Chief Engagement Officer. After starting her career as a journalist, Laura spent a decade at the Metro regional government, where she built a communications and engagement program for greater Portland's regional park system. In 2020 she joined the City of Portland, where she has led the development of citywide systems to connect employees and community members with information, resources, and decision-making.

In her interim role as Engagement Officer, Laura oversees the Office of Community and Civic Life and the City of Portland's broader community engagement system.
