Any member who has reached their sixty‑fourth (64th) birthday anniversary shall be retired by the Board forthwith, subject to the provisions of the following Section relating to retirement of members receiving benefits upon service‑connected or occupational disabilities; provided, however, that the Chief Engineer of the Bureau of Fire (Chief of the Bureau of Fire) and the Chief of the Bureau of Police who hold such positions on the effective date of this Act shall not be retired under the provisions of this Section prior to August 1, 1968. Any member retired under the provisions of this Section having any service less than thirty (30) years, shall be retired at the member's earned portion of the maximum pension.
