This policy originated in 2022, and therefore, was subject to review 1 year after its enactment. The Bureau worked with key LGBTQIA2S+ partners to bring it into better alignment with other City policies and made a few updates to definitions and language.

This directive is being posted for Second Universal Review. The Policy Development Team has made few substantive changes to the directive. The directive has been revised for clarity around prohibitions on profiling and biased policing, as well as updating records entry to allow for more accurate and respectful record keeping.
