The 2020-2021 budget is a spending plan covering the fiscal year between July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. Budget development for this fiscal year occurred from September 2019 to June 2020.

Budget development is an annual process that occurs from September to June. The budget developed through this process takes effect on July 1.

Local government budgeting in Oregon is governed by Local Budget Law, Chapter 294 of the Oregon Revised Statutes. Residents involved in the budget process work to ensure the services they require and want are adequately funded. City officials are responsible for building a budget that reflects the public interest and is structurally correct.
