You’ve heard of a food bank? Community Warehouse is similar, but instead of food, they focus on household goods and furnishings. In a nutshell, they collect donated home goods, and work with social service agencies to get those goods in the hands of those who need it most.
Community Warehouse has been serving the Portland area for over 20 years and believe there are enough beds, blankets, pots and pans, and furnishings circulating in our community for everyone. Their mission is to connect these donated household items to neighbors overcoming adversity, creating stronger homes and brighter futures.
Instead of buying new, they make the most of what already exists, keeping useful items in circulation and helping neighbors create homes filled with comfort and dignity.
The stuff we take for granted
Think about your morning routine. You wake up to an alarm clock, in a bed made with sheets and pillows. You step out of the shower and grab a towel. You make coffee and toast. These everyday items—alarm clock, bed, towel, toaster—often go unnoticed because they’re always there.
But for many of our neighbors, these basics are missing. That’s where Community Warehouse steps in. The stuff you no longer need becomes the solution for a family in need of essential home furnishings.
My experience was a great one. The Warehouse helped me and my daughter get our lives back on track. We had lost so much and they helped us get some of it back. We can’t thank them enough for the things they gave us to start over with. — Warehouse Client
Neighbors helping neighbors
The power of Community Warehouse lies in its role as a connector. Donated items move from one household to another, creating a closed-loop system of reuse. The result? Less waste, lower costs, and stronger connections across our community.

Give your old treasures a new life
Not sure what to do with collectibles, antiques, or family heirlooms? Community Warehouse’s Estate Store offers these items for purchase. Proceeds support the mission while giving unique pieces a new chapter in someone else’s home.
As one donor shared:
We had been struggling for a while to convince our mother to let go of her long-accumulated furniture and belongings. The idea of giving mom’s furniture to Community Warehouse, where it could do such good for local families, was really helpful for her in the letting go process.— Anonymous Furniture Donor
