Join us for a presentation and discussion about engaging the public in Portland's use of surveillance technologies

In the first of two events, City staff will: 1) introduce the challenges in getting the public to participate in guiding the use of surveillance technologies in public spaces, and 2) present options for public participation on surveillance technologies oversight and decision making.

The City’s surveillance technologies policy, passed by City Council last February, includes a directive to explore how to develop effective surveillance technologies oversight and effective public participation strategies.

Event details

This event will include:

  • Overview of how other cities use and manage surveillance technologies and how the public provides input.
  • Discussion about different forms of public participation and decision-making regarding surveillance technologies.

Your participation will inform future strategies, policies, and events on surveillance technologies oversight and effective public participation in Portland.
