The Ezone Map Correction Project is correcting the maps of conservation and protection overlay zones (ezones) to better align with existing rivers, streams, wetlands, flood areas, vegetation, steep slopes and wildlife habitat. This will not only protect Portland’s natural resources but will also reduce risks to our homes and other buildings as well as roads and other infrastructure from flooding and landslides.
On July 28, the Planning and Sustainability Commission (PSC) heard public testimony on the proposals. At the end of the oral testimony the Commission indicated that the last day for property owners to request a site visit is August 31.
To request a site visit:
- Look up your property at portlandmaps.com/bps/mapapp, click on “Ezone Project” and look up the street address.
- Scroll to the bottom and select the button the “Request Site Visit” button.
Alternatively, you can send an email to ezone@portlandoregon.gov with the subject line “site visit request.”
At the site visit, staff will confirm the location of streams, trees or steep slopes on your property and answer questions about the environmental overlay zones. The following safety protocols are in place:
- Staff will arrive in separate vehicles.
- Staff must always stay outside and are not allowed in any residences.
- Staff will wear face coverings and maintain 6 feet distance from others.
- Property owners are invited to join staff outside and are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering.
- Between site visits, staff will disinfect hands and equipment (e.g., clip boards, pens, camera).
Note that staff will contact everyone who provided testimony on the project or requested a site visit to schedule that site visit, so there is no need to contact us again.
Next Steps
Project staff will brief the PSC on the outcome of site visits completed between June 20 and August 24 at their meeting on September 8 beginning at 2 p.m. You can watch the briefing (live stream and recorded) on the PSC’s YouTube channel: portland.gov/bps/psc.
