The City has partnered with MetroPaint, a service of Metro, to launch a “Clean it Up, Paint it Up” initiative that provides free cleaning and painting kits to the community.

The  “Clean it Up, Paint it Up” initiative provides free cleaning and painting kits to the community. These kits aim to help community members and small businesses clean, paint and brighten up their spaces.

Clean it Up Kit
A solvent-based kit for smaller tag removal on surfaces like glass, metal, and plastic. Each kit contains Cleansweep spray solution, bucket, plastic scraper, gloves, safety glasses and microfiber cloth.

Paint it Up Kit
These kits come with up to five gallons of MetroPaint from a selection of limited edition colors. Perfect for indoor and outdoor use, these kits can be used where permission has been granted to freshen up a space or mitigate graffiti. All kits include a roller, roller tray, roller cover, a three-inch paint brush and painter’s tape.

For more than 10 years, the Graffiti Program has operated a volunteer program, offering training on graffiti removal and free solvent-based kits. But this past year, as we experienced an overwhelming increase in unwanted graffiti, we heard from our volunteers that they would like another removal kit option to support their increased efforts.

Partnering with MetroPaint to expand our graffiti removals kit options was a natural fit. MetroPaint’s recycled paint line supports an effort that has kept millions of gallons of latex paint out of landfills for the last two decades. Both kits will be available to pick up at the MetroPaint Swan Island location starting Friday, Aug. 20, and there are plans to expand distribution through other locations and organizations.
