About this skillshare
Repair PDX volunteer Cindy McMahon will be showing us how to hem our own pants. In this skillshare, Cindy will be showing us basic tools and techniques for hemming slacks, jeans and shorts. During the session, there will be a demonstration and also time for questions and answers. Feel free to bring your projects and/or questions to the skillshare or just show up!

About the presenter
Cindy was taught to sew by her Grandmother at age 8 and has been sewing her whole life. In junior high she was encouraged to make her own clothes and spent hours sewing, learning that if she made a mistake, she could rip it out and start again. She worked part time at Nordstrom's as a tailor to supplement tuition through chemical engineering graduate school and as and adult made wedding dresses, wool suits, interior window coverings and outdoor furniture, which she still does. In 2008, Cindy retired from the technology field and started volunteering with Abby's Closet (free prom dresses given away to any area high school student) in alterations and repair for their prom dress giveaway. She now leads this area throughout the year and sits on the board of Abby's Closet.
