City of Portland Climate Test Youth Information Session

In August and September, the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Mayor Wheeler’s Office held two roundtable discussions with youth about the development of a Climate Test for the City of Portland. Participants shared some great ideas and questions about how the City can design a meaningful policy to ensure City bureaus are making decisions informed by the best available climate science.

Based on the feedback from those roundtable discussions and engagement with other City bureaus, BPS has developed a draft resolution to establish a shadow price on carbon for City decision-making as the first phase of the City of Portland’s Climate Test. During this session, we will share updates, provide an overview of the draft policy, and hear questions and feedback. There will also be a comment period on the draft policy to submit additional written feedback following the information session.
