Community Involvement Committee Meeting – Sept 2019

Welcome and Overview (5:00pm)

We’ll discuss committee business that includes a history and overview of the Community Involvement Committee and the current charter.

Meet the new committee (5:15pm)

Spend some time mixing and mingling to get to know new and current members of the committee and bureau staff.

Project Brief (5:45pm)

Joe Zehnder, Chief Planner for the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, will give a short briefing on an upcoming bureau project that will come before the committee over the next year.

Movement Break and Dinner (6:00pm)

Catered by Lion’s Breath Gourmet Catering. Vegetarian options available.

Shared Learning (6:10pm)

Jena Hughes, Planning Assistant will take us on a journey through the history of urban planning in Portland and how past decisions show up in the Portland you know today.

Close and Next Steps (6:50pm)

A meeting evaluation followed by a summary of what to expect at the October 8, 2019 meeting.

Meeting Adjourn (7:00pm)

The next Community Involvement Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 5pm at 1900 SW 4th Avenue, Portland, 7th floor.

Optional Peer Counseling* (7:00pm -7:30pm)

Occasionally, the topics we cover during shared learning and discussion can be uncomfortable or triggering for some. For those that would like additional support and/or a safe space to openly process, we offer 30mins of optional peer counseling after the meeting.

*Peer counselors are not Therapists, Psychiatrists or otherwise licensed mental healthcare providers. Peer Counselors are staff or community members that volunteer to provide emotional support to individuals in crisis and provide additional resources for mental health services if needed.
